Boise Police say they will not charge a driver involved in a fatal collision with a bicyclist on May 21.

Police officials said Wednesday that toxicology tests on the 22-year-old driver showed no drugs or alcohol in his system.

Officials said Boise Police Department policy prohibits releasing names of individuals who are not cited or charged.

According to a Wednesday release, several witnesses to the collision said Thomas D. Bettger, 62, was hit while crossing Milwaukee at Emerald against the red light. The driver likely had a green light and didn’t see the cyclist due to sun glare.

Bettger died of his injuries shortly after the crash.

Detectives have not found any evidence that the driver of the vehicle committed a crime, the release said. The police investigation has concluded and no criminal charges will be filed in this case.
