The Los Angeles Times: Bicyclist killed in Long Beach after running red light

A bicyclist was killed Friday night in Long Beach after he rode through a red light and was struck by a van.

The unidentified man in his 60s was riding south on Magnolia Avenue, crossing a red light at 6th Street, when he was struck by a 1995 Chevy van traveling east, according to Long Beach police.

Paramedics took the man to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the van was interviewed at the scene and released.

The victim, described as an Asian male about 65 years old, carried no identification. The Long Beach Police Department is asking anyone with information to call Det. Sirilo Garcia at (562) 570-7355.
