OWOSSO - Police arrested a 44-year-old Owosso man after he allegedly struck a bicyclist with his vehicle and then fled the scene Sunday night.

Witnesses contacted police with a description of the vehicle and license plate number and the suspect was arrested less than a mile from the scene in Caledonia Township by the Corunna Police Department, according to Owosso Police Department Det. Sgt. Kurt Moffit.

Police said a 45-year-old Owosso man was riding his bike near the 300 block of E. Corunna Avenue and was struck about 10 p.m.

A 44-year-old Owosso man was the driver of the vehicle. A 46-year-old Owosso man was a passenger. Moffit said the driver had a blood alcohol content of .08.

The victim was transported to Memorial Healthcare for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver has been charged with Operating While Intoxicated and leaving the scene of a personal-injury accident.
