SAN ANTONIO - The City of San Antonio now has a plan to ensure drivers keep their distance from cyclists, runners and pedestrians.

"I just get tense and try to get out of the way the best I can. That’s really all you can do," cyclist Eric Malsbury told News 4 WOAI.

City council will vote on the proposed ordinance on Thursday. If approved, the new city law would require drivers to stay three feet away from cyclists and pedestrians. The length is extended to six feet for trucks.

If the city approves this ordinance, violators breaking the law could pay up to $200.00.
